What to See in Fife and the East Coast

Glamis Castle. Famous as the childhood home of the Queen Mother. Duncan's Hall, one of the oldest parts of the castle, was the legendary setting for Shakespeare's Macbeth. On A94 six miles west of Forfar.

Scone Palace. Original home of the Stone of Scone over which all English monarchs have been crowned. On display in Westminster Abbey for several hundred years, the Stone of Scone has, at long last, been returned to its rightful home in Scotland. Scone Palace is now the home of the Earl of Mansfield and features a magnificent collection of porcelain, furniture, clocks, etc. On A93 two miles northeast of Perth.

Falkland Palace. Beautiful residence of the Stewart kings and queens, this palace contains the oldest tennis court in Britain dating to 1539. In the picturesque village of Falkland west of St. Andrews.

St. Andrews Cathedral (ruins). Here are the remains of the largest cathedral in Scotland and the burial place for Old Tom Morris, famous British Open Winner and architect of many famous courses.

St. Andrews Castle (ruins). Ruins of the castle that was home to the Archbishops of St. Andrews from the 13th century.
