Helpful Hints
for your Scotland or Ireland
Golf Package

Your Golf Package. Our golf tours to the UK are custom made. We plan your golf trip to suit your exact needs. You play the golf courses you want to play and stay in the accommodations that best suit you. You will have a complete package planned to the last detail. You will have guaranteed tee times with prepaid greens fees, prepaid hotel accommodations, rental car or coach & driver, airport meet & greet service, full breakfast daily, and much much more. Nothing is left to chance. We emphasize personal service both in the planning stage and while you are in the UK.

Planning your Golf Package. We will plan your golf trip according to the information given to us in your email. This will require 2 or 3 business days, as our Scotland Office will need to check the availability of tee times and hotel accommodations. This proposal will be emailed or faxed to you for your approval. After the last detail has been worked out to your satisfaction, we will require a deposit of 25%. The balance will be due 60 days prior to your departure. Since your money must be converted to British Pounds or Euros, we only accept personal checks as form of payment. This also helps to keep our prices low. Your total package price is subject to changes in the exchange rate until paid in full. It is important that your final payment be made on time, as we are obligated to pay hotels and golf courses in your behalf. We charge a $25 per person late fee if your final payment is not made on time.

Your Hotel Accommodations. The biggest variable in the cost of your trip is the cost of your accommodations. You may select small hotels with as few as five rooms, country houses, manor homes or the finest in five-star luxury hotels. All of the properties described within this website have been inspected and approved by us.

Your Golfing Handicap. Several clubs, among them the Old Course and Carnoustie, require an actual handicap certificate in order to obtain a tee time. Letters from club professionals are no longer acceptable. This can be a handicap card or a printout from your club computer system. You must submit this at the time of booking and carry it with you on your tour.

Your Travel Documents. Approximately two weeks prior to your departure, you will receive a packet containing your airline tickets, baggage tags and copies of your hotel and golf course vouchers. Upon your arrival in the UK, you will receive the original vouchers as well as maps and driving directions.

Your Luggage & Golf Clubs. Take a lightweight golf bag as one of your two checked bags. Do NOT take those large metal containers for your golf clubs as they will not fit in your car, van or bus in the UK. You may also take a carry-on bag no larger than what will fit under the seat in front of you.

Your Money. Take travelers checks or cash and exchange at local banks in the UK for the best exchange rates.

Your Electrical Appliances. The UK uses 220 volts. Take a converter and several types of plugs. Most of our hotels offer in-room hair dryers.

Driving in the UK. Roads are in good condition and are well marked. Drive on the left please. Remember that those in the roundabouts have the right-of-way. Never leave anything in your vehicle unattended, especially golf clubs!

What should you wear? Plan on cool temperatures. Take a sport coat and tie for the upscale hotels and clubs. Take a bathing suit for the spas at Turnberry, Gleneagles and the Old Course Hotel. Temperatures from April to October will run in the 60's and 70's during the day, 40's and 50's at night.

Tipping. Usually service charges are already included in your hotel or restaurant. If not, add 10-15 percent.

Value-Added-Tax. This is a 17.5% tax added to everything. For everything included in your golf trip, this will be prepaid. If you purchase merchandise in the UK, get a VAT Tax Form from the merchant and turn it in at the airport before you leave to come home. A refund will be posted to your credit card (maybe someday).

Dial 999. In the UK, you dial 999 for police, fire or ambulance services.

Cancellation and Changes. Your deposit is non-refundable. 60 days prior to departure, your golf trip is 100% non-refundable. If you fear that health problems could cause you to have to cancel, we can offer you cancellation insurance through Travel Guard Insurance at an additional cost. Once you have approved your itinerary and paid your deposit, any change to the itinerary will result in a change fee of $25 per person plus any fare or rate differences.

Exceeding Your Expectations. Our goal is to exceed your expectations from the planning stage to the day you return to the US. When you return home, please take a moment to drop us a note and tell us how your trip went. Did we exceed your expectations? What improvements can we make? Which was your favorite hotel and why? Were there any disappointments? Which was your favorite golf course? Did you discover any sights that we should include on our website? We value your comments.
